İstanbul: labour, weather, distance
Begin with ports, shipyards, coffeehouses, rain and the city’s working edges. The photographs do not use nostalgia as soft focus; they show modernisation arriving unevenly, with people carrying its weight.
Black Sea: road and weather
Read the northern work through terrain — steep settlements, water, labour and the patience required to reach a frame before fast roads made distance less visible.
Central and Eastern Anatolia: monument beside daily life
Archaeological sites and historic structures gain scale from the shepherd, child, worker or traveller beside them. The country is never reduced to ruins; the present insists on sharing the frame.
Aegean and Mediterranean: antiquity without emptiness
Classical remains, fishing towns and coastal light appear as inhabited places rather than timeless scenery. Look for the argument between tourism, work and historical imagination.
Portraits and assignments
Artists, writers and public figures reveal a different form of proximity. The lesson is less about access than duration: the portrait begins after the formal face stops performing.
An archive is not a free image bank. It is a body of work with authorship, context and conditions of use.
